Guidelines for new registrations
It takes approximately six weeks to receive your ICOM card, due to administrative procedures at the head office in Paris. Please take this into account when registering. Every year in December, a new annual stamp for the card will be sent by post. The membership fee will then be automatically debited from your account.
Important: applications received before 1 October will be registered as membership for the current year and the full annual fee will be charged. Applications received after 1 October will be registered as membership for the following year. Your membership and ICOM card will be valid from 1 January.
Senior Membership
Annual fee: €88
Voting rights: as a senior member, you have voting rights at the General Assembly ('Algemene Ledenvergadering') and can sit on the board.
If you are not yet a member but have worked at a museum for at least five years, we require proof of identity and a statement from your employer. Please note: Volunteers are not eligible for membership.
Important: Supportive Members are not eligible for senior membership.
Submit your application using this form.
Important: if you are currently an individual member and meet the conditions, your membership will be automatically converted and you do not need to fill in this form.
Use of the ICOM Card
In principle, the ICOM Card provides free or reduced admission to affiliated museums worldwide. However, this is a courtesy extended by the receiving museum, not a legally enforceable right. The ICOM Card is strictly personal and may not be transferred to third parties, including family members or partners. The card is only valid if it bears the correct annual sticker for the current calendar year. Unless a museum explicitly states otherwise, the card provides free or reduced admission for one person only: the cardholder. It does not entitle the cardholder to bring a “+1” in for free.
