What do we do?
We organise activities, workshops and meetings throughout the year. These include ‘ICOM Ins & Outs’: a recurring workshop where we take a closer look at how ICOM works and explain more about the opportunities within the international network. You can also join us for behind-the-scenes tours of international museum exhibitions.
Through this programme, we create opportunities for young professionals to actively engage with current museum and societal issues, such as gender equality, inclusivity, decolonisation, audience development, sustainability and digital transition. At the same time, the network encourages the exchange of ideas, experiences and perspectives across generations, disciplines, genders and countries.
We therefore invite you to contribute to a more representative and future-proof museum network. After all, museums are not only places of preservation and knowledge, but also social, public and international forums. As a new generation of museum professionals, you can make a difference and contribute to social change, cultural dialogue and inclusive representation.
Organisation
The ICOM Young Members network is led by the ICOM Young Members Focus Group, whose members rotate. The Focus Group currently consists of: Feija Beersma (who is also a junior board member of ICOM Netherlands), Olivia Bicker-Caarten, Lies Brillemans, Isabelle Best, Vita Filippini and Joost van der Velden.
How do I become a member?
You don’t need to do anything to become a member. If you are a member of ICOM Netherlands and are aged between 18 and 35, you will automatically receive all invitations and newsletters from ICOM Young Members, in addition to ICOM’s regular communications.
